THE ZULUS

                      Introduction

AmaZulu are very proud people. You can tell from their loud clicking accent even if they think they are whispering.Their dance seem to be one of the best ethnic dances ,characterised with hard foot stamping  on the ground and agility from the start to the end. Proud Zulu men hate commiting sins like stealing raping and unexplainable murder. Don't mention fraud  but it look like they easily lose patience when something untolerable happens. They want to sought things instantly. Zulus  are the most well disciplined people  they learned respect from their parents who inherited it from their  ancestors. The bad thing about them they always want to  be praised and appreciated all the time. A zulu man  can give up everything just to get a post where he will  earn respect irrespective of salary.

Zulu is one of the big languages from  language- group called Nguni which is widely spoken in some countries in Southern  African region which include Zimbabwe,Swaziland and South Africa. Zulu is a mostly widely spoken language in South Africa ahead of Xhosa and  Afrikaans {Latest research figures tell us].It became one of eleven South African  languages after 1994. In Johannesburg you can hear South African inhabitants speaking so called eleven official languages, Zulu being part of them. It is usually a broken one  due to influence from other languages as it is a multilingual city. If you really want to learn Zulu go to Kwa Zulu Natal province . You will then get a full comprehension of what  we mean if we say we are the Zulus. I don't mean that I support a football team from KZN also called Amazulu which is vastly supported  by majority of the Zulu people even if they don't but they still have a soft spot for it as they believe Amazulu is  their team.

You can visit major cities like Durban Petermaritsburg and other towns  to learn how they are living. You can also visit art galleries museums and lodges see how Zulus used to live in the past centuries but if you really want to see for your self how they are living, speaking proper language visit Nothern KZN. If  you were in South Africa 15  years ago, I advise you not to say Natal because it now sounds embarassing you need just to say KZN-[ Kwa Zulu Natal] That's our province.

Coming to  Northern KZN you will see totally different shape from what you might have seen in major cities. Towns there are  mostly called villages by those who undermine them. They are characterised by daily trafic congestion . You could think every body own a car but that is not the case. On the pavements you can't even breath let alone swinging a cat especially in summer because of over crowding, people walk up and down selling or buying goods  oh what a nice life. Types of vehicles you will find are  mini buses, larger vehicles, and vans.Vans play a major role in carrying commuters and shoppers to and from remote areas where mini buses can't reach due to poor road conditions  in some areas. But in other parts  cars cruse like a boat on the water.

I hope you have now got a clue of what you may be up against on your first vit to our towns.  South Africa  has been labelled as a country which is highly infected with crime. We can't deny that but it is not the whole country. Even  in those  affected areas it is just certain individuals who were  poorly brought up because poverty doesn't give permission to commit crime. I am saying this because in  rural areas where people are  often said to be poor you can still park your car outside your yard and find it on the following day. You can use your mobile phone  freely not thinking about someone watching you with hawk's eyes . Minor incidents have occured but easily tackled by locals who knew perpetrarors  and overcome them.

Now let's get back to business. You have heard about  our towns.  When you leave town to your hotel or lodge where you  may have booked. You will see open land with good sunshine , nice breeze from South-East to North-West  free from fumes and gases that you can inhale in major cities. You can see people moving  up and down carrying different loads on their heads mostly woman carrying pile of woods or  containers full of water. If it is evening you may see lights in all houses . You will  say I am in Africa? But if you are so unluky it may  be dark until you reach your destination. During the night it is quiet as a mouse, apart from a barking dog from  a distance.
