THAT'S WHERE WE BELONG

The fifa rankings don't lie thats what I believe following Bafabafana's latest dismal performance against western African  opponents Nigeria and Sierralione in their quest to play in 2010 African cup of nations in Angola.

South Africa  are currently ranked in number 68 on  the latest fifa rankings. I thought South Africa were misplaced to that position. Now I have realized we don' t even deserve to be on that spot we should be ranked with countries like Djibouti and Sierralione. Actually Sierralione is far better than us.We can't not beat Djibouti

We have gone down completely. It will take brave savour like Kanu of Sierralione to lift us from where we are. That fulfy the the theology that Africa will do better if it does she herself than having hands from where else.

The problem started when they fired  coach Shakes Mashaba  few days prior to the 2004 African cup of  nations finals for no apprent reason. Since then we haven't recovered we are going down the drain.

I don't know about Santana's abilities but what I know he has never coached at an international level that will take time for him to adjust. Let us leave him doing his job even in these conditions. We qualify or not and wait for the embarassment in 2010 then we focus to SAFA who fired our beloved  successfull coach who is struggling to redeem pride of the Swazi  national team at the moment.

We still going down unless we change our aproach . I don't see us going to Angola let us accept. It will be hard to manage a  draw with Equitorial Gunea let alone the victory at their own backyard.

GOROWA DESERVES A CHANCE

It surprises me to hear some negative comments by certain individuals about the Moroka Swallows coach Ian Gorowa who is romoured to have been snatched by KZN outfit Thanda royal Zulu .They said he deserved to be fired because he was under performing and had no place in Swallows. It was his first season at Swallows and he has never coached any other side apart from being an assistant coach . He took Swallows to the seventh spot of the league. Would you not keep as next year prospect? I don't know what people are looking for.

This man deserve a chance. Some mention the fact that he is from Zimbabwe I don't know how his nationality affect his performance. I hope Thanda will recognize his potentials may be hire him as a headcach when they unhappy again with their current coach I wish him a goodluck. Saying that those are just speculations from the people. They are still to be confirmed.

XENOPHOBIA

I would like to express my disappointment with latest situation in our land where the foreign nationals who are black are being humiliated by our brothers and sisters who believe they are here for negative reasons. Among the points raised by one of the locals was increasing rate of crime in SA saying our neighbours were comitting this dirty deads then fly away for the cover to their countries then come back when the coast is clear to add the tally of their stinky habits. One of my closest companions mentioned rape, murder, theft, fraud as the main reason for the brutal attack on foreign nationals.

My question is are all foreigners like that? What would yuou feel if one of your brothers or sisters get a beat  on the foregn soil? Will it go down well with you? Let alone if heor she  support you financially .

What I was going to do if I was these people who believe in war then diplomacy I would congregate my collegues ,moblising a massive demonstration that South Africa has never seen before straight to the government buildings especially parliament. We would do this now and again may be government would come with the solution.

Why do you kill people especially innocent victims some were the non speaking famliar languages South Africans. Did you like it when Bafana Bafana  were greeted with a huge protest in Nigeria last wekend?

Please think before you do any thing because it can be you tomorrow.

LEAVE OUR SPORT ALONE

It is not nice to live in this country any more. The politicians or the ruling party control every thing I have never seen any successful country where the government  is a referee and football mother body Go to Germany,Italy,Brazil and France footballers play football and politicians talk the political talk. If there is something to be said about football politicians  don't hold their tongues. why? On the sport shows they are not scarce. why? On the radio, it's them,on  news papers and TV where ever you go its them .One can't even take a respite away  from politics because we breath them. they are in the air. They are our daily bread. Where aver you go they say 2010,2010,2010,twenty ten,tweti tun,Thwenti then. 20,20,20 20,20 000. Leave it a lone! Sports are for us to enjoy not being reminded who is ruling the country.

The problem is, those talkative people are not even near the porfolio of sport minister . To be honest I don't know who is our sport minister. If there are some dicussions about new national team coach ,they say something, national team selection ,they open their mouths , national team's coach salary ,they say something .What about theirs do we bother questioning how much they earn per month?

These days they talk about changing national team's names whereas they didn't say any word when they were coined .Those names were given by the real  dying hards of this sport  so leave it alone.

It is not only football that  is suffering from these negging politicians who should be looking after the escalating crime statistics  poor housing conditions , general countries poverty and other political issues of public and concern  leave  sports alone.

Rugby has been attacked many a times as a sport which doesn't accomodate Blacks. I have been trying to see who are those players they were talking about but I haven't seen any one who was good enough to wear green and gold than those  that were finally selected. If it wasn't  briliant and brave efforts by our selectors and fomer springbok coach we would   not have celebrated for the last years worldcup victory. Don't let them break your spirit guys in the near future! Look how   messy  is football this days. Now they talk about changing the national team's name what that will do? Will it build a new spirit among our footballers who are  well talented but failing to deliver?

Athletics are also suffering from this invasion. Atheletic South  Africa  and Commrades Marathon organising commettee had to come with new proposals after the ruling party had said Comrades Marathon should not be run on the 16th of June as it was Commemoration day for the 1976 masacree ,whereas  it was the same government that cut off the assention day which was a Christian holiday it used to be run on. Now it is being run on Sundays close to that precious holiday . We heard that Christian didn't let it go without a say. They also stung the same poor athletic bodies who were still coming into terms with these new dates they had settled with government. They said they would boycott this race because it was going to be run on their day.

Which other country does like us .Have you ever seen  a British ministers having a speech in the FA cup final. have you heard any long speech by their prime minister about London 2012 Olympics. If it was hear we would hear this and that and the next, one wailing about it you could swear we have won all medals . How many politcians have you heard talking about 2010? A thousand? That's not far from the truth. Everbody want to be known as  football and politic experts why? Leave it  alone.

Iam not surprised why we are doing badly in all sport competitions apart from rugby. LEAVE OUR SPORT ALONE .

PUT THE POOR FIRST

Put the poor and the  working class first. Not the rich. I am fed up and had enough with these politicians or bumports. They promise you earth, this, that and next but get changed when they get voted in.

Politicians are out for themselves .I don't listen to them any more. I really don't pay attention to them any more. They are full of codswallop.

Iam not interested in politics any more. I don't know and I don't really care.

Why on earth should I vote for someone who doesn't really care about what we need as the society. When will the poor get recognized. Why don't they practise what they always preach during their deasperate campaigns. I don't know and I don't really care. They travel to other countries now and then . They come back nothing tongeable they come up with. They will continue saying we put the poor first. While they are not.

Where are  the new big factories or other type of employment they usaally promise  when they canvas . I will never, ever, ever ,ever vote again.

WHO IS GONNA BE NEXT PARAIERRA

21/04/08  16. 00

We have just heard that the South African national soccer team coach Pararerra has quit the job he took 16 months ago. There are many speculations behind his resignation . Some they say he wanted to attend to family matters.  Others are saying he came to this country   to get enough money to pay his overdue bills . Others are blaming South African football assosiation for interference with his job.

All what we know about him ,he got all what he needed interms of support from  SAFA  teams including and oversease based players who were so reluctant to play for their country before his arrival. Media was behind him apart from certain individuals who thought he was just  gold digger as he was earning large amount of money than any sportman in the country. I believe him if he says it was due family matters.

Now the question is: Who is going to lead the team at this point in time? Will Safa stick to Pitso and the Parairra 's former assitance coach or they will opt for onother big name with  few to deliver but earning more than what paraira was. It is true South Africa need a good coach to take them to 2010 worldcup knock out stages . The question is  who will it be?

I have heard some people picking a former Chelsea coach 'the special  one' Jose Murino as a siutable candidate for this job. I for  one  I dont think he is aright man . He has  good club record with Porto and Chelsea but has never coached a national team before let alone winning a world cup. If we choose a coach we need someone with a good vision and expirience of this world's big event. At list his country of origin should be with similar style of Barzil like the one Paraira has already introduced. Phillipe Scholari will be a good man for the Job but will need more persuasion in fact I don't see  him being convinced  with South africa's job. May be Sepp Blater will need to interverne or just the world football itself .

It hurts our spirits and hopoes that at this time of the year where we need to be ready for African cup qualifiers we don't have a  leader.

If we don't get Scholari because of his expirience as he won  the world cup in 2002 and  played semifinal in 2006.  We are better with the two. I don't see any one else otherwise we will crash again.

WHY HAVE WE TURNED INTO MONSTERS?

There are people who use others as stepping stones . I have heard a song from one of  South African musician mourning about someone who used him to build his wealth. In his song, he worked very hard but his employer didn't pay him even a cent. He only bought him a box of cooked chicken. {He mentioned the brand] He continued to say what could he do with one box of cooked  chicken . Could  he feed his family with that for the whole week let alone a month?

In my mind it is clear we need each other to succeed. That is good but it  is bad if the entire nation work very hard at the end of the day few individuals who din't even sweat, eat fruits of nation's toil . That is happening in many countries , particularly Africa.  We don't think for others. As long as our tummies and that of our families are full , it's ok. We don't care a damn  about other people . You can hear a leader saying we are fighting for the poor or we stand for the poor children and vulnerable adult. No! He means himself.  If you can follow his actions , history will tell you that he has never donated even a toy for a pre -school next to his   100 - 300 yard multi millions home he built through our sweats. Thats why poor remains poor unless they luckily try other helpful means. The rich become even more richer or become the  richest.

As long as the situation remain the same ,you will continue to see Africa being shown on international TVs  as  a begging  continent. When there are  world summits ,  the talk of the the day will be : 'How do we help Afrca?'  [What does she do to help herself ?] I watched an American idol  for this year the  first thing I saw  was an African child  who was not only hungry and malnurished but was begging for drugs  to  elongate her perishing life. I asked myself, why her government didn't provide her with those drugs. Is it just because the entire nation is poor and has never  been in a better position even before or it is just because of  unstoppable greediness.

Businesspeople need customers for their products to sell and customers need those products depending on each individual's need. It is very shameful  to see a salesman manipulating his customers as he knows he is the only  one with that product. I have seen this with these newly errupted drugs that are said to be boosting immune sytstem. Once people aplaud their help, the owners increase  prices so that they can chew a better cud.

I have seen horrible scenes where ordinary people, some perceived as holy Christians in their community, committing blatant sins  but veil by saying God help those who help themselves. Once I saw  a big truck, full of domestic goods, lost its route and ramed with an incoming vehicle then overturned . Instead of helping the casualties people  rushed to loot. Others were working in partnership carying away  scattered  goods before  police and ambulance's arrival. That was not only the case some were pick pocketing the victims to see if they didn't have any useful artilcles in their pockets, stealing their wallets loosening their necklaces ,bracelets , wrist watches and stealing mobile phones.

Yes we are not all goood Samaritans but let us be reasonable. Don't do something that you would  not like it to be done to you. Always think about those on the receiving end.

ELECTIONS IN ZIMBABWE

Today I won't be long . I just want to say to all Zimbabweans who are currently waiting patiently for the presidential election result keep on doing what you are doing You have set up a good example. You have shown the world that Africans can hold elections in difficult circumstances and avoid civil war.

Just bear in mind that the world is watching. If the elections are being rigged we will see so don't resort to fighting if things are not going on your way.  To those that are backing the  opposition leader please remember that he may still lose election inspite of good campaign and support he gets from the media world wide. Even without  any fraud . You don't know how many people that are really on his side.

To those that will die where the current head of state dies must remember the change is on the way  sooner or later Zimbabwe will have a new leader.

SLEEPING AT WORK

My supervisor just asked me  ' Daennyb  did you take your breakfast this morning?'I said why? 'You are sleeping ' I said I am not.  My collegues also confirmed that I had been sleeping. That shocked me.    I had been napping at workplace!   Now  I remember I had been watching a   boxing game  that morning. I don't sleep if I am waiting for the big sporting event that's why it resulted to such an embarassment .

What about  you?  Have you ever been caught napping at work. What did your boss collegues do about that?

WHY WE DON'T LIKE AFRICAN FOOTBALL

I have just heard one of my friends who supports Sundowns saying Sundowns were not playing last weekend. I said why. He said because they were playing against   a     team from outside the country. I asked from which country. 'I don't know' he replied. He gave  similar response when I sked him about the competition.

He is not alone on that. Why we South  Africans don't care much  about teams from other African countries ? If it was Bolton Wanderes  or any team from England irregardless of teams size interms of  support he would know the answer.   Our people think South Africa is more advanced than any African country. Have you watched  when English clubs are in the country how media exaggerate  the importance of their precence in the country saying that  would help to improve Soth Africa's ability to host world cup. They don't say any thing when Al ahly is heret though they are  ten times better than Tottenham hotspurs, Bolton wanders, Everton, Liverpool,Chelsea and Asernal/any one else from England interms of history as they have participated in worldcup  more than any English team.

Even our clubs themselves  don't value these African competitions that much. They think they waste their times. Do you think if the competition [CAF CUP]had some European clubs  they would still refuse to play.

Why these competitions are always won by teams from North Africa.   Ahly from Egypt  have won it for several times without reply from the rest of Africa  until last year where Etoile dusahel from Tunisia rescued it from the mighty Egyptians.

What would it cost if we could just concentrate in these competitions before we can think about sccessful world cup. If you win continental competitions that gives aboost to challenge the world gallantly.

Remember in 1996 we   won the Africa cup of nations  with many stars in that team due to additional succesfull Orlando pirates players that had won the champions league [now] competition in   1995. Players  like Mark Fish, Linda Buthelezi  {initiallly  played for   Pirates in  94 ],John Moeti  and Helman Mkhelele were part of that team.

Springboks won world cup in 2007  through succeful South African dometic teams against opponents  from Australia and New zealand.

Please come back to Africa because charity begins at home don't try to play in the league of bilionares whereas you don't even have R20.

THE NAME BAFANA BAFANA

There are many people who claim to know the meaning of South African soccer team's name Bafana bafana. If you ask them, they will easily say it means the boys, of which is  wrong. There are also many individuals who claim to know how this name was coined. They use to say it was given to the national team by   journalists. The truth is, this name started to be used  in July 7 1992 when South Africa were  playing their first ever international match after they had been reinstated to world football. South Africa had beaten  the 1990 world cup heros Cameroon  by an odd  goal thanks to Doctor khumalo's penalty  in that evening  kickoff     at  Kingspark in Durban. Being impressed by South Africa's outstanding performance against the West African giants , comprised of world stars  like Simon Nkono ,Roger Miller and Jean Claud  Pegal, South African fans who have been nervous before kickoff, started to shout 'bafana bafana!' even before South Africa's goal.

As a boy who grew up enjoying appreciation  after  I had done well, I know very well of what I am talking about here. If  someone older than yourselves[in group]  had assigned you to perform  some   task  when you finish it and did  it exactly as he wanted he would say  bafana bafana , showing appreciation and happiness for  your archivement.

We also use to hear those exclaimations when Isicathamiya choral music group start to thrill the audience. To cut matters short the meaning of that exclaimation is Go boys! Go boys! or well done boys keep it up. I found it disappointing to hear South African president's comment on national radio about us being less passionate when naming our national teams, calling for change of our national teams name. http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/461FB5FC-6865-4C60-B3D4-E4c78B8A57d8.html .  Yes I don't understand  the meaning of South African under 23 squad name Amaglug glug   but Bafana bafana is very meaningful and passionate unless you don't understand its meaning. Do you think we should change name of our national team  just because president does not undestand its meaning? Please say something about this daennyb@risingstarfc.co.uk

Just because Springboks won the world cup so all South African teams should be called springboks?

WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT EATING URINATED FOOD?

University of Freestate came under spotlight following release of the video that depicted four white  students offering   urinated food to ignorant but willing senior black participants working  in the above mentioned university. It look like  an organized event to voice white students opnions about intergration  of black and white  student residential areas within the university because the conclusion of the video says "Op die einde van die dag  ons regtig van intergrasie dink" [ At the end of the day thats what we really think of intergration]

Many political organizations,NGO's and other South African individuals have  seriously condemned this barbaric incident. Many protests against it  have been held. Inspite of this, there are some individuals who believe this issue has been blown out of proportion and  why it gets such big attention whereas other  South Africans are attacked and killed daily. Some are tied on thier sofas and watch their wives and children being raped but nothing is said about it. They say it was just an innocent fun. Nothing more than that.

My question is: Would you like to see your  father, mother or any one from your family eating urinated food? Why  did these  workers participated in the first place? Comment about this on daennyb@risingstarsfc.co.uk. I am waiting to read your opinion.
