Egypt defend their African cup of nations
The 2006 champions Egpyt did it again. They managed to defend their championship by 1-0 against stubborn Lions - Cameroon, domitable this time. Half time score was no goal apiece. The game seemed to take a turn on the 70th minute when Cameroon skipper Rigobert Song failed to clear the ball out of his area but opting to shield it. That invited Egyptian foward Zidan who seemed more hungrier than the rest of Egyptian players. He fought gallantly then snatched the ball to his playmate while lying on the cameroon's 18 area box then his team mate Aboutrika scored against an advancing Cameroon's goalie Kameni. That was it. Cameroon tried invain to revive themselves. All of their attempts seemed to be laboured. No one had a spark among them.
It was suprising and entertaining to see Egyptian players playing drums with the live band while awaiting for their crown. The cup was brought into the field by a every young girl carried by four body builders on awell designed African stretcher. Finally Egyptians were officially awarded of their trophy which they really deserved.

Was Frederic Kanoute a right man
I was really shocked to hear that Frederick Kanoute was named as best African player. What criteria is used to choose the best player? We have best players in Africa that have competed in big competition like African champions league, and Mandela cup that are so much better than Knoute . Also in other league such as premierleague and Bundesliga. Was he a better player than Drogba,Essien ,Mcarthy,Appiah,Adebayour,Aboutrika to mention the few. I am not convinced that the decision to award him was well justfied. He is agood player any way but stiil to show much better ability that led him to be chosen as the best African player.

Why was that award ceremony held at Lome in Togo instead of Ghana because it was where this year's African showpiece was held. Best african players were preparing for the quarter finals so it was not to be easy for them to attend because that would disturb their preparations.

Tunisa's special soccer lectures
South Africa tried by all means to crack Tunisian defence which was like a hard nut but invain. As a result They had to watch Tunisia teaching them what they were failling to do.Tunisian foward Chaokri kept on visiting their 18 area box like someone who had lost wallet full of R1000 notes. South Africa went down by 3-1.

Tunisia -South Africa
Tunisia - South Africa Afcon game tonight is a complete closed book. Who ever use his chances profitably will emerge as a victor , in this closely contested group.
History
They firstly clashed in a 1996 Afcon cup final in South Africa. South Africa won that encounter by 2-0. Then they met in 2000 in the same competition for the the third place playoff which was a ding dong battle that was finally resolved in penalties ,after Batlets and Alli Zitouni's goals had leveled it. South Africa again won the game. They met again in Tunisia in a friendly game in 2003. This time Tunisia cruised away by 2-0. They met again in a friendly game in 2005 . South africa took their strong opponent by suprise that time . They did beat them 2-0 at their own back yard in Tunisia a year after they had been crowned as African Champions.Their last clash which left unsolvable puzzles from South africa's point of view in a Afcon group stages game in Egpt 2006 was won 2-0 by Tunisia.
Now the question is who is going to win tonight. From Tunisia's point of view I think their game will be based on a srtong and solid line of defence . On the other side, they will be hoping to use their ariel strength effectively against their diminutive but skillful and pacy opponents. If they can just heavly bombard South African 18 area box with high balls and connect effectively convecting that into goals .Then sit at the back watching South Africa entertain themselves with their goalles ball posession and looking for the break. That could help them to win that game without any 'drop of sweat'.
On the other hand South Africa will need to refrain from squandering chances they often create if they really mean business other wise they will watch qurter finals on the tele. The first thing, they will need to start their game well not letting the 2004 champions to settle. They will need to keep up a good pace throughout the game.
From what I have said above it won't suprise me if this game ends in a one or two all draw. If I look at the pace of the currently used balls ,truethfully I don't see them locking horns in a 0-0 draw. For sure one will score. I noticed in both side's recent games their defenders were to sluggish. We may have plentier goals.

Our Match was poor officiated
There is an outcry in 'Rising'familly that they were robbed following their 2-1 defeat against their local rivals Majomela united in a blue jarsey competition last December. They said the decision todisallow the goal which was scored in the second half was very dubious as the official whistled while the ball was already in the net. One of Rising stars defenders

rising stars players Mponshi Sithole getting redy for a sport kick while Xolani Ndlozi and referee[wearing as a spectator]watching in a blue jersey competition that they won in penalties against Sundowns.
Senzo 'Schirachi'Ngcobo said that was common when they were playing against local teams .Some will remember the abandoned game between the two at the now demolished Bayafukuza sport ground in 2003,Khicky scored a good goal after united's defender Shadrack Ngcobo had obviously failed to clear the ball out of his six area box but referee's assistant ruled it out as an offside.Similar event also happened at estekini eBhethani when now owner of the eventual winners of the blue jersy competition Bongani fc disputed refree's decision and said it was a goal against Rising stars .That came after the match had been on standstill as a hot brawl had erupted between Mjiza citizen and risingstars so match comissioners had to intervene. The goal was eventually allowed to stand. The referee was not available for coment but Uniteds veteran foward Nsunda Mkomen Myeza said he didn't remember Rising stars scoring a second goal but United too had plenty of disallowed goals in other matches of the same competition so Rising stars had to stop morning and start playing comprehensive football with goals that were not easy to be disallowed.
